IMPORTANT ADDRESS TO PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS

For the past year, the Parish Pastoral Team has been working on bringing into our parish life a number of pastoral activities focused on renewal; focused on the youth and families. We have made this our mission for the next few years to come.

FAMILY MASS

Every first Sunday of the month, we have a Family Mass. This is an occasion to specifically involve the youth and their parents as much as possible. And at times we are fortunate enough to involve 3 family generations. We would love to see you - please join us with your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN

Every Sunday we also have Liturgy of the Word for children, At the beginning of mass Louise or Donna head downstairs to the Children’s Pastoral Corner with the children and they go over the same readings we hear here in the church. These readings are adapted for the children and Louise and Donna have discussions with the children about what the readings mean to them. They then come back after the homily to join in rest of the Eucharistic celebration.

FAMILY FAITH FORMATION

We are working on a pilot project for Family Faith Formation to start next fall. This would involve members of the community working with parents and their children separately once a month here at the church. These sessions are meant to prepare the parents to take the lessons home and continue the work with their children throughout the month. It is a program designed to educate both the parents and the children in the Catholic faith. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.

TWO WARDEN POSITIONS OPEN

Roger Séguin (effective immediately) and Rita Lacelle (effective July 1) have resigned from the Wardens’ Board for personal reasons.  We thank both of them for the excellent work they have done during their time on the Board.

According to the Quebec law governing Wardens’ Boards, vacant positions must be filled within 60 days.  Should the Board not be able to find anyone to take on the positions, the Bishop may appoint persons, parishioners or non-parishioners, or St-Aloysius may lose its' status as a parish. The Maintenance warden is responsible for the upkeep of the church building, the rectory and the property and delegates duties to the caretaker.  He or she forms and presides over a committee to help in these tasks.  The Hall warden is responsible for the leasing of the church hall and the coordination of the use of the hall for parish functions. The Wardens' Board meets once a month for approximately one hour. The Board may have an additional ad hoc meeting for urgent matters or special circumstances.
If you would like more information, to nominate someone for these positions or to submit your own name, please contact Mike McCann at 819-669-1687 or leave a message for him with the parish secretary before the end of April.

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT SEMINAR

Friday, May 14 and Saturday May, 15

Friday, May 21 and Saturday May, 22

This Seminar takes place over the course of two weekends, which are designed to help participants establish and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. The teachings, discussions, praise and worship, and prayer lead participants to experience an awakening of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, bestowed at Baptism and Confirmation.

Fridays will be 7:30 to 9:30 pm (in the hall)

Saturdays will be 9 am to 4 pm (in the hall)

Please consider this invitation to join us and share it with your friends - everyone is welcome. Once you have decided, you will need to register with Carol Léonard by calling the office.

Thank you and God bless.

SUNDAY COLLECTION – It has been suggested to the Wardens’ Board that we look into the possibility of automatic withdrawal from bank accounts for the Sunday collection.  This obviously has its advantages, (you don’t have to remember to keep the right amount of cash for your envelope every Sunday; when you are away, your donation goes in anyway; the parish collection goes up....)  But apparently, persons who accept to do this have to pay a certain fee to their bank.  If there is sufficient interest expressed, we will pursue the matter and come back to you with full details.  Could you respond to the following survey, cut it out and put it in the collection basket before the end of April.

Name :  _______________________________________________________________

I would be interested in contributing to the Sunday collection through automatic withdrawal from my bank account.

THANK YOU

A special thank you to Jo Anne Lambert and Amanda Foley for all their hard work and time put into preparing our young people for the sacrament of Confirmation.  It was a job well done. Also thank you to Susan Arnold for organizing the recreation and pot-luck lunch with our Bishop, Roger Ebacher and our Confirmation candidates. Thank you to everyone who helped in anyway.  This is a great sign of community spirit.
