MARCH 20/21, 2010

Reading I                             Joshua 5.9a, 10-12

Responsorial Psalm:             Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Reading II                            2 Corinthians 5.17-21

Gospel:                                Luke 15.1-3, 11-32

·         Where do I stand in this scene? Like the woman standing before her accusers? Like a silent sympathizer hoping that something will happen to save her? Like the skulking male adulterer who got her into this trouble? Like the bystanders already, collecting the best stones with a view to a killing? Like one of the elders who slink away, unable to cast the first stone?

·         What goes through my head as Jesus is doodling in the sand?

Donations made by churches across Canada on this one day, Solidarity Sunday, allow Development and Peace to support more than 200 partners in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Ten percent of the Share Lent collection goes to help people living in emergency situations. Because of the special needs in Darfur, where people are suffering from the effects of 20 years of civil war, Development and Peace has made Sudan a priority country for special assistance until 2011. Joining forces with Caritas Internationalis, Development and Peace will focus on the needs of women and children living in internal refugee camps in the Sudan.

Thank you for your generous contributions. Your gifts to Development and Peace today, given in love, will grow wisely in the hands of our partners. In solidarity, we can help peace and justice grow, and ease hunger in the world.

Anyone interested in helping to decorate the Church for Easter on Saturday, April 3rd at 9:00 a.m. please contact Jo Anne Lambert at 819-663-9620.

FLOWERS FOR OUR CHURCHES: Easter decorations

You could do it in two ways:

1.      You could make a financial donation in the baskets designated for this purpose at the main and side entrances.

2.       You could bring a flower to the church yourself in memory of a deceased relative with card with their name on. At Easter time our deceased loved ones are very much on our minds and in our hearts.  Bringing a flower to church would be an expression of our faith and hope that they are welcomed home in the life-giving embrace of God’s love. If possible bring your flowers of Holy Thursday or Good Friday service (St. Al’s) or on Easter Sunday morning (St. Columban).
