SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

January 16/17, 2010

FOOD FOR THE WEEK

Reading I                            Isaiah 62.1-5

Responsorial Psalm:            Declare the marvellous works of the Lord among all the peoples.

Reading II                           1 Corinthians 12.4-11

Gospel:                                John 2.1-12

·         With a mother’s instinct, Mary felt Jesus was ready. Like other young men, Jesus was reluctant to go public so he protests: “My hour has not yet come.” But Mary knew it had come.

·         Thank you, Lord, for the mothering that brings me to the point of taking my life in my own hands and gives me the push I need.

We have received many registrations for the sacrament of Confirmation and are looking for help in providing the preparation courses. If you can offer a few hours a week and want to share the Gift of the Holy Spirit please contact JoAnne Lambert at 663-9620 or the parish office.

MASS INTENTIONS NEEDED

At both St. Columban and St. Aloysius we are out of or very close to being out of intentions for our Masses.  Mass intentions can be made for the deceased, favours received, favours required, in thanksgiving of your Marriage, Birth of a child, etc.  The cost of intentions are $20, which is divided between the priest ($6), diocese ($3) and the parish ($11).  To schedule your Mass intention call Carol at the parish office 819-663-5244.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN

Back by popular demand! Once again the Liturgy of the Word for Children will be provided to the children of our parish. It will begin this Sunday and every week thereafter except on the first Sunday of the month which is our Family Mass. Bring your children, grandchildren and friends to hear the Good News!

If you have any questions please contact Louise MacMillan.

 NEED A RIDE?

With the snow on the ground and cold weather it's not always easy for those don't have a vehicle to get to church for mass or other functions. If you need a ride or can offer a ride, a sign up sheet will be placed at the main entrance of the church for you to indicate your contact information and which area you live in. Those that can offer assistance are invited to verify the sheet and contact the fellow parishioner(s) directly. Thank you in advance.

LOVE & MARRIAGE - FEBRUARY 13TH/14TH

In honor of the sacrament of marriage and the special love shared between two persons, Father Gyan will be blessing all married couples at St-Columban on Saturday, February 13th and at St-Al's on Sunday, February 14th. In the weeks leading up to the special mass, paper hearts will be made available for couples to write their names and the number of years married. These hearts will be collected and placed in the church. Whatever anniversary you may be celebrating this year - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and many more.
