TRINITY SUNDAY

June 6/7, 2009

FOOD FOR THE WEEK

Reading I                             Deuteronomy 4.32-34, 39-40

Responsorial Psalm:         Happy the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.

Reading II                            Romans 8.14-17

Gospel:                                Matthew 28.16-20

·         I put myself in the skin of one of the eleven disciples, still fearful of those who had arrested and crucified my master, sensing how forlorn I will be without his presence, and as the test says, doubtful.

·         I hear Jesus’ commission: “Go, and teach all nations.” My heart sinks. Where do I start? Then I hear his promise: “I am with you always.” Thanks be to God.

NEWS FROM FR. GYAN

FOOD FOR THE NEEDY

Our food cupboard for the Needy is running very low. We are in need of all types of food (soup, stew, rice, noodles etc).  This is a great way to help the needy of our community.

PRAY FOR

Please keep our candidates in your prayers as they prepare for their Sacraments of First Communion and First Reconciliation, which will be held on June 14th at the 11 a.m. Mass.

At 1:30 p.m. on June 14th will be the baptism of our newest parishioners.  May the Lord bless them and keep them safe.

PREPARING FOR A VISIT

On June 22nd, Fr. Gyan’s Bishop, Mgr. Felix Toppo with 2 other priests from India will arrive in Gatineau for a vacation with Fr. Gyan. They will be here for approximately three weeks.  We are hoping to have the help of our parishioners and the parishioners of OLV and St. Malachy to organize meals and outings for them.  If you are interested in providing a meal, you may do so by inviting them to your home or by preparing a dish with cooking instructions that they will be able to heat-up and enjoy.  You may also be interested in taking them on a tour of some local attractions. In either case, please call Carol at the office 819-663-5244.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

INVITATION FROM ST-FRANçOIS-DE-SALES – We have been invited to take part in the Eucharist at St-François-de-Sales, July 19th at 11:00 a.m.   For seven Sundays during the summer, a special choir will be singing the “Messe Québécoise” by the French composer Pierick Houdy.  For each of these Sundays, St-François community will be receiving a different cultural group from the rich cultural mix of Gatineau.   The guests will take an active part in the liturgy (processions, responsorial psalm, communion hymn, etc.).  The guests are also asked to contribute something of their cultural heritage to the museum, which the community has set up for summer visitors.   Anyone interested in participating, please contact Pauline Leduc at 819-663-1121 or at pleduc@sympatico.ca

CELEBRATE OUR PAST - STRENGTHEN OUR FUTURE

Please join us for a wine & cheese on Friday, June 19th at 7pm to celebrate St-Aloysius Church's 50th anniversary. There will be music, memorabilia, a creative corner for youth to create a scrapbook page of themselves or their family (bring photos) and more. If you have memorabilia to share please contact Susan Arnold at 819-663-3619 or Julie McCann at 819-243-8537.

We ask that you bring your own wine/drinks. You are also invited to bring a food item (a list will be posted at the entrance of the church). Spread the word to current and past parishioners.

A special thanks to the Friendship Club for sponsoring part of this event.

Let's cherish the memories past and make new ones for many years to come.

The Rosebud

It is only a tiny rosebud, a flower of His design

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I;

The rose God opens so sweetly

In my hands would fade and die.

If I cannot unfold the rosebud,

The flower of His design

What makes my think I have the wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?

So I’ll trust him for his leading

Each moment of every day

And I’ll look to him for courage

each step of the pilgrim way.

For the path that lies before me,

My heavenly Father knows;

I’ll trust him to unfold the moments

Just as He unfolds the rose.
