NO WEEKDAY MASS FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY

·         Faith is born in us from others and for others. It is not a matter of me and God, me and Jesus, or just me –and God inside me. Jesus called his apostles in community and the same with us: religion is to be personal and not private; personal and communal.  We light the candle of faith for each other.

·         Let me pray for all those who are co-workers in the gospel-field of Jesus and give thanks for thosw who have faith.

MAINTENANCE WARDEN NEEDED

At our last AGM we had two wardens position open for election; our Public Relation Warden which was previously help for 2 full terms by Shannon Lortie and our Maintenance Warden which was previously held for the past year by Michelle Cook.  We successfully filled our Public Relation Warden position by Julie McCann which graciously accepted her nomination but sadly we are still searching for our Maintenance Warden to complete our Team.  Should you feel you or know of someone that could fill the Maintenance Warden position please bring your nomination to any of our warden’s board members or contact Carol at the office.   The primary duty is to ensure and coordinate the upkeep of the church and the church property. The initial time commitment is a monthly evening meeting at the church, usually the 3rd Wednesday of the month.   We would kindly ask that you discuss your nomination with nominee prior to the meeting.  An Ad-hoc Parish meeting to elect our next Maintenance Warden will be held February 9th, 2020 following our regular Sunday mass.

We greatly appreciate your support to assist us in filling this position.

Please Join us in thanking our departing Wardens Shannon Lortie and Michelle Cook for their support and dedication to the board and their beloved St-Al’s parish and welcoming on board our new Public Relation Warden Julie McCann, thank you for coming on board!

Yours truly, St- AL’s Warden’s Board

ST. COLUMBAN Closed for January and February

St. Columban will close during the months of January and February 2020.

During this time you are encouraged to celebrate mass with other local parishes.

The first Mass of 2020 will be celebrated on March 7th.

FATHER AL IS ON VACATION

Father Al will be away on vacation in Nigeria from December 29th until January 29th.  Father Bill Marrevee will be here to celebrate Sunday masses with us.  If you need to speak to a priest or have an emergency, please call and leave a message and Carol will get back to you ASAP.

We received a message from Father Al wishing us all a Happy New Years and he is enjoying his time with his family.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

What is it?

Liturgy of the Word for Children is a program in which the Sunday scripture readings are proclaimed and explained on a level appropriate to children from ages 6 to 12 during most Sunday Masses from September through June. Any child in this age group may participate - no registration is necessary.  Visitors can participate too.

ENVELOPES – FOR TAX PURPOSES

If you are interested in having collections envelopes for either parish, please contact the office or one of your Wardens.  Envelopes are a convenient way to make your contribution to support your church and at the same time receive an Income tax receipt.  Receipts are issued at the end of the year in time for your tax return.

The 2019 tax receipts are now available. Please see Jim Brownrigg after mass or other member of the wardens board.”
