MAINTENANCE WARDEN NEEDED

An Adhoc meeting was held last month in hope of finding a new Maintenance warden, sadly all nominations brought forth declined.  We still have an open position on the Wardens board for a person to complete the term for the Maintenance Warden position. The remaining length of the term is one year.  Should you feel you or know of someone that could fill the Maintenance Warden position, please bring your nomination to any of our warden’s board members or contact Carol at the office. The primary duty is to ensure and coordinate the upkeep of the church and the church property. The initial time commitment is a monthly evening meeting at the church, usually the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We will be holding the election during our Annual General Meeting held December 8th following mass in our church Hall

We greatly appreciate your support to assist us in filling this position, Looking forward to seeing you there!

Yours truly, St- AL’s Warden’s Board

ST. AL’S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – December 9th following the 11 o’clock mass.  A light lunch will be served.

The Synodal Process – Getting a snapshot of each pastoral zone

For the synodal process, the synodal team grouped the fifty or so parishes of the diocese into five zones: the parishes of the Petite-Nation (eastern zone), the parishes of the Gatineau Hills (northern zone), the parishes east of the Gatineau River in the City of Gatineau (central zone) and the parishes west of the Gatineau River (west zone). Finally, the dozen English-speaking parishes are grouped together in an English zone.

The synodal team believes that parishes in the same area share characteristics that distinguish them from other areas. We hope that these distinguishing characteristics will emerge when groups within each pastoral zone get together to discuss the responses received during the parish consultation. We can then adjust the next steps of the synodal process to fit each zone.  Hopefully, this will allow us to ensure that the process will be more reflective of regional/linguistic realities and future action plans will be better tailored
to individual parishes.

ST. COLUMBAN PARISHIONERS' MEETING TO ELECT A WARDEN - TO BE HELD AFTER MASS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2018

A meeting will be held immediately after mass on Saturday, November 24, 2018 for the election of a warden to fill the position currently held by Martin Burns, as his term will end on December 31, 2018.  The term for the new warden position will be from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021. Any parishioner who may be interested in serving as a warden is kindly asked to provide his/her name to any of the current wardens (Martin Burns, Paul Paiement, or Marc Maisonneuve).  You may also nominate a parishioner of your choice for this position.  In either case, please present name(s) to one of the wardens no later than Saturday, November 24, 2018.  A copy of Warden Duties will be available at the back of the church for review prior to the election.

ST-AL’S FINANCES – NOVEMBER UPDATE Since our message to the parish last month regarding the financial concerns, our call for donations and increased collections has been answered.  So far, we have received donations totalling $6,500 from all of you.  Your generosity has been incredible, and we can all be thankful that this has helped relieve some of the pressures on our finances.  However, our shortfall is $10,000 and we still need to raise an additional $3,500 prior to the end of December while maintaining a healthy weekly collection.  Your support is still very much needed.  As mentioned last month, for those of you who are interested in setting up automatic bank withdrawal donations on a regular basis or on a one-time basis only, we had promised information on how to do this.  If you have access to the Internet, you simply need to go to the diocese web site at http://www.diocesegatineau.org/en/ , click on the “Donate now” link on the top menu bar, select “Donations to Parishes” and follow the instructions based on the type of donation(s) you want to make.  You will need your bank information from the bottom of a blank cheque.  Should you require additional help to set this up, please contact Carol at the office for assistance.

Should you have any questions regarding our current finances or other administrative parish matters, please contact one of our Warden’s Board members; Father Al - Pastoral, Mirella Bernier - Secretary, Jim Brownrigg - Finance,  Mike Groulx - Hall, Shannon Lortie - PR, Anne-Marie Plante - Social and Marie Desmarais - Chairperson.   A more detailed financial summary as well as the 2019 parish budget will be provided at the General Meeting on December 9th after mass.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated and very much still needed at this time!
