Gospel                         Matthew 2.1.1-11

Reading I                    Isaiah 50.4-7

Responsorial Psalm:    My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Reading II                   Philippians 2.6-11

Gospel                         Matthew 26.14-27.66

·         Christ’s death is like a bridge; he lay on the Cross and was crucified, and is the bridge between nations and also between ourselves.  Jesus can be the bridge between us all because he knows everything human – even to death.  He fulfills all these conditions!  Jesus is like that.

·         Holy Week is “The week of the bridge”.  That makes it holy.  Any week we build bridges among people is holy week.

FLOWERS FOR OUR CHURCHES: Easter decorations

You could do it in two ways:

1.      You could make a financial donation in the baskets designated for this purpose at the main and side entrances.

2.      You could bring a flower to the church yourself in memory of a
relative with a card with their name on. At Easter time our deceased
loved ones
are very much on our minds and in our heartsBringing a flower
to the
church would be an expression of our faith and hope that they are
home in the life-giving embrace of God's love. If possible bring
your flowers
to the Good Friday service (St. Al's) or on Easter Sunday morning (St. Columban).

Holy Week is the week which precedes the great feast of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday – it includes the last day of Lent and the beginning of the Easter Triduum.  During Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his life on earth, beginning with his messianic entrance into Jerusalem.

Good Friday is a universal day of fasting and abstinence from meat.

Archbishop Durocher is pleased to invite all parishioners to gather for the Mass of Chrism during which the Oils of the Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick will be blessed and the Holy Chrism consecrated.  This is on Holy Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph Cathedral, 245 St. Joseph blvd., Gatineau (Hull Sector).  Free parking available behind the church and on the streets nearby.
