FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT

April 5/6, 2014

READING OF THE WEEK

Reading I                    Ezekiel 37.12-14

Responsorial Psalm:    With the Lord there is steadfast love and great power to redeem.

Reading II                   Romans 8.8-11

Gospel                         John 11.3-7, 17, 20-27, 33b-45

·         Prayer brings us in touch with the body of Christ, of Jesus risen from death, and of Jesus present in all his people.  Prayer affects the lives of others; in that way it is political, affecting how we live together, asking to be unbound and live in freedom like Lazarus.

·         Knowing that others pray with Sacred Space can help my life of prayer.

Development and Peace Campaign Prayer

O God, you entrusted to us the fruits of all creation so that we might care for the earth and be nourished with its bounty. You sent us your Son to share our very flesh and blood and to

teach us your Law of Love. Through His death and resurrection, we have been formed into one human family. Jesus showed great concern for those who had no food even transforming five loaves and two fish into a banquet that served five thousand and many more. We come before you, O God, conscious of our faults and failures, but full of hope, to share food with all members in this global family. Through your wisdom, inspire leaders of government and of  business, as well as all the world’s citizens, to find just, and charitable solutions to end hunger by assuring that all people enjoy the right to food.

Thus we pray, O God, that when we present ourselves for Divine Judgment, we can proclaim ourselves as “One Human Family” with “Food for All”.   AMEN

FLOWERS FOR OUR CHURCHES: Easter decorations

You could do it in two ways:

1.      You could make a financial donation in the baskets designated for this purpose at the main and side entrances.

2.      You could bring a flower to the church yourself in memory of a
deceased
relative with a card with their name on. At Easter time our deceased
loved ones
are very much on our minds and in our heartsBringing a flower
to the
church would be an expression of our faith and hope that they are
welcomed
home in the life-giving embrace of God's love. If possible bring
your flowers
to the Good Friday service (St. Al's) or on Easter Sunday morning (St. Columban).
