Reading I                             Isaiah 9.1-4

Responsorial Psalm:             The Lord is my light and my salvation.

Reading II                            1 Corinthians 1.10-13, 17-18

Gospel:                                Matthew 4.12-23

·         Faith is born in us from others and for others. It is not a matter of me and God, me and Jesus, or just me –and God inside me. Jesus called his apostles in community and the same with us: religion is to be personal and not private; personal and communal.  We light the candle of faith for each other.

·         Let me pray for all those who are co-workers in the gospel-field of Jesus and give thanks for those who have faith.

If you are interested in having collections envelopes for either parish, please contact the office or one of your Wardens.  Envelopes are a convenient way to make your contribution to support your church and at the same time receive an Income tax receipt.  Receipts are issued at the end of the year in time for your tax return.

Registration for the Sacraments of Reconciliation/First Communion as well as Confirmation have begun.  Please pick up a form at the back of the church or call Carol at the office to register. 819-663-5244.

Just a reminder that St. Aloysius parish is a charity that is recognized by Revenue Canada and thus enables the parish to provide tax receipts.  Recently, Revenue Canada has increased the tax credit for charitable donations.  Therefore, your tax credits on a charitable donation to the parish under the present regulations could be as much as 50% of your charitable donations.

Free course at St. Mark’s: Empowering Mature Christian Disciples: Facilitating Adult Groups

Baptized in Christ, we all have a role to play in the growth of others in their faith, whether in our homes, among friends, or within our parish community.  The pastoral priorities for the diocese in the coming year call us to support laypeople to participate in pastoral ministry.  To help parishioners develop the needed identity, vision and skills, St. Mark’s will be hosting two half-day workshops (February 1, 9:30-12:00 and March 1, 9:30-12:00) on Empowering Mature Christian Disciples: Facilitating Adult Groups, with Carol Kuzmochka from St. Paul University.

These workshops are relevant for all parishioners and will provide particular help for anyone in a leadership role in the parish (Parish council or wardens) or involved in one of the sacramental preparation programs, or who would like to lead activities for other adults in the parish.  The workshops are free and are open to all parishioners, so we especially welcome those who are not yet involved, but who may want to reflect on their leadership role for the future. It would help us in our planning to have a general idea of how many people will participate, so if it is possible for you to RSVP, please leave a message with the St. Mark’s parish office (819) 684-6926 or contact Julie Cool at .
