CHRIST THE KING

November 23/24, 2013

FOOD FOR THE WEEK

Reading I                             2 Samuel 5.1-3

Responsorial Psalm:             Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.

Reading II                            Colossians 1.12-20

Gospel:                                Luke 23.35-43

·         We know him as the good thief, Dismas, and bless him for that extraordinary prayer: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” In the throes of your final agony, Lord, you welcomed him into paradise: “You will be with me.”

·         I lean on the promise, Lord. To call you a king is to use a human metaphor.  It is enough for me that you are my Lord, and that my strongest hope is to be with you when death claims me.

November 30th and December 1st 2013

Paul-André Durocher, the Archbishop of Gatineau and the President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops invites all the parishes to organise a special collection in the  November 30th and December 1st  weekend, to help the victims of the recent typhoon in Philippine. All the money collected would have to be transfer to Development and peace (through the Diocese) before December 8th if we want to be eligible to the commitment made by the Canadian government to match all the amounts of money collected by Canadian citizens.

ST. ALOYSIUS ANNUAL MEETING

St. Aloysius Annual Meeting will be held in the hall after the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, December 1, 2013.  A luncheon will be served.  This is a great opportunity to hear the reports of everything done in the past year and also to express opinions and suggestions to improve our parish life.  It is also at this meeting that wardens are elected.  It is really encouraging when a lot of people show their interest by attending.

ANGEL TREE CAMPAIGN

You may have seen a tree at the back of the church with pink and boy angels on it.  This tree represents the children that are helped with our Christmas Baskets.   Each angel is a child that we help, showing their age on the back.  We include a gift for each of them in our food baskets. We would appreciate if you would take one or two angels home and buy a gift for them.  Please wrap the gift and have it returned to the parish by December 15th.  You may leave them at the back of the church or bring them to the office.  Please do not include your name on the gift and make sure the angel tab is attached on the outside. Thank you for your support.
