THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

November 9/10, 2013

NOVEMBER 9/10

Reading I                             2 Maccabees 7.1-2, 7, 9-14++

Responsorial Psalm:             I shall be satisfied, Lord, when I awake and behold your likeness.

Reading II                            2 Thessalonians 2.16 – 3.5

Gospel:                                Luke 20.27-38

·         The Sadducees try to trick Jesus who then lifts them above the human tangles in which they are trapped, to a cosmic vision.

·         “He is God not of the dead but of the living, for to him all are alive.” We are part of that cosmos that embraces Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as well as our ancestors to the beginning of creation. In the resurrection we will share the eternal now of God.

ST. ALOYSIUS ANNUAL MEETING

St. Aloysius Annual Meeting will be held in the hall after the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, December 1, 2013.  A luncheon will be served.  This is a great opportunity to hear the reports of everything done in the past year and also to express opinions and suggestions to improve our parish life.  It is also at this meeting that wardens are elected.  It is really encouraging when a lot of people show their interest by attending.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE – St. Al’s and St. Columban

            The annual Christmas food drive will start this week.  Please feel free to donate canned food, pickles, pasta, rice, toothpaste, laundry detergent, etc.  We will be collecting specifically for the Christmas food baskets up to December 15, but please continue to donate throughout the year.  Thank you for your cooperation in brining a Merry Christmas to the less fortunate in our community.
