THE NATIVITY OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST

June 23/24, 2012

FOOD FOR THE WEEK

Reading I                             Isaiah 49.1-6

Responsorial Psalm:             I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.

Reading II                            Acts 13.22-26

Gospel:                                Luke 1.57-66, 80

·                     Zechariah and Elizabeth were very much people of tradition, yet they were able to turn aside from the practiced and the usual to follow the prompting of God.  As I bring my life before God I ask that I may recognize where my habits have dulled my awareness of God’s prompting.

·                     My expectations of others and of myself are sometimes limiting my pray for freedom and for courage.

NO WEEKDAY MASS DURING THE MONTH OF JULY AND AUGUST.

MUSIC MINISTRY

We are still in need of someone (a person or persons) who would be willing to share responsibility for music at Sunday Mass (every second Sunday) and for other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. (eg. Holy Week, Christmas, etc) This would involve choosing the hymns   (from the CBW and G&P and leading the congregation in song from the microphone at the front of the church. Although playing a musical instrument (piano/organ, guitar) is not absolutely essential, obviously it is desirable, and it sounds nicer too. There is some urgency to this appeal. In the medium to long term, there is the possibility that on some Sundays, we would have no singing at all.

So…if you have some musical or singing skill, and are willing to assist in this important service to our parish, please phone or E-Mail the parish office or Mike Groulx/Pauline Leduc (819-663-1121).

FINANCIAL MATTERS

As we all know there are fixed monthly expenses that need to be paid. It would be appreciated, if you could send in your weekly offerings before you go on holidays this summer. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please see me after mass. Thank you.

Your Financial Warden, Mary Jane Champagne.
