FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

January 28/29, 2012

FOOD FOR THE WEEK

Reading I                             Deuteronomy 18.15-20

Responsorial Psalm:             O that today you would listen to the voice of the Lord.

                                            Do not harden your hearts

Reading II                            1 Corinthians 7.32-35

Gospel:                                Mark 1.21-28

·         For the people present at this strange event, the exorcising of an unclean spirit identified Jesus as an agent of God.  The battle here is between Jesus and the evil spirit, between good and evil. What happened in this conflict at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry made him famous in Galilee.

·         The very presence of Jesus challenged all that was contrary to him.  Does my way of living call people beyond where they are?

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY

Our deepest sympathy to the Lortie Family on the passing away of Louise’s father, Roger Gauthier.  His funeral was held at Our Lady of Victory on Thursday.  May he rest in peace.

SACRAMENTAL  PREPARATION:

Our two parishes are in the process of preparation for Reconciliation/First Communion as well as Confirmation. In order to better plan for these sessions, parents should register with the Secretary no later than January 30th 2012 for both sacraments. Once registrations are received, we will determine what and when these sessions will be offered.

ST. ALOYSIUS MURDER MYSTERY PLAY

On Friday, February 17th and on Saturday, February 18th St. Aloysius parishioners will be performing in a Murder Mystery Play at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  We will be serving a light snack, dessert and coffee/tea BYOB  Admission is $10 each.  Tickets can be purchased on Sundays after Mass or by calling Carol at the office. 819-663-5244. Come out and support our Parish and have a fun evening.

MUSIC MINISTRY

We are in need of someone (a person or persons) who would be willing to share responsibility for music at Sunday Mass (every second Sunday) and for other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. (eg. Holy Week, Christmas, etc) This would involve choosing the hymns   (from the CBW and G&P and leading the congregation in song from the microphone at the front of the church. Although playing a musical instrument (piano/organ, guitar) is not absolutely essential, obviously it is desirable, and it sounds nicer too. There is some urgency to this appeal. In the medium to long term, there is the possibility that on some Sundays, we would have no singing at all.

So…if you have some musical or singing skill, and are willing to assist in this important service to our parish, please phone or E-Mail the parish office or Mike Groulx/Pauline Leduc (819-663-1121).
