TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

September 18/19, 2010

FOOD FOR THE WEEK

Reading I                             Amos 8.4-7

Responsorial Psalm:             Praise the Lord who lifts up the needy.

Reading II                            1 Timothy 2.1-7++

Gospel:                                Luke 16.1-13

·         There are practical lessons here: first, that whatever the value of our worldly goods, we must be faithful in our stewardship; and second, that the Christian should take the long-term view of this world, with an eye always on the “true riches” of the kingdom.

·         The only things we take with us from our life on earth are those which we have given away.

CALL FOR TALENTS IN VARIOUS MINISTRIES - READERS, EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS, SACRISTANS

          So you think you might want to get involved at least in a small way? You have been thinking about it but wondering if it is right for you? You wonder if you have the time? Well, the Lord takes every bit of time (no matter how big or small) we can give Him. Please be open to this call, reflect on it and consider that proclaiming the word (readers), distributing communion (Eucharistic ministers) and taking care of the altar and opening the church (sacristans) are all important contributions that can be made.  And with a team of people, things are so much lighter. With the people already in place, you will not have to do this every week. "Be not afraid" (as we sing sometimes during mass), if you have never done any of these things before, the people responsible will help you get started - show you the ropes so to speak.

            Yes indeed we are calling for talent because we are in need of more people in these 3 areas. If we manage to get 2 more people for each ministry, that would really help. If you feel called to join these ministries, which are open to everyone, please give Carol a call at the office and leave your name and number and which ministry you are interested in. The pastoral team member responsible for that particular group will contact you shortly thereafter.

            Thank you for considering this invitation. Have a good week.
